VERITAPHOBIA was the winner of BEST PERFORMANCES at the March 2020 COMEDY Film Festival in Toronto.

Matthew Toffolo: What motivated you to make this film?

John Hayden: The film was originally prompted from a dare to write a short ten minute play about phobia’s by the Shelter Theatre Group in NYC.

From the idea to the finished product how long did it take you to make this short?

I wrote the original idea in 2015. It was featured at a live readings by the
Shelter in NYC. I then decided to to rewrite it for a film but wanted these two
actors in it so much that I waited for their availability. We filmed it in 2018 and it was entering festivals by the summer of 2019. So, 4 years.

How would you describe your short in 2 words?

Emotional Wackamole.

Biggest obstacle in completing the film?

I think patience…
