Watch Video Pitch Logline for GLASS SKIES OVER HOME:

Get to know writer Melissa R. Mendelson:

1. What is the theme of your story?

“Glass Skies Over Home” bites at the heels of “The Outer Limits,” “The Twilight Zone,” and “Amazing Stories,” blending three lives, three stories together in Supernatural and Horror with a twist of Mythology.

2. Why do people need to know about your story?

These days, we are plagued with too much Reality Television, dismal movies and television shows, and technologic gizmos. Anything different is a gamble, but seeing how the CW television show, “Supernatural” is still going strong after a decade, it shows that we still crave different. We want to be entertained, chilled and thrilled, and “I aim to misbehave.”

3. How long have you been writing stories?

I really began writing short stories, the notebook stories back in 1996, senior year of high school, and the second story, Distant Skies, was written during that time.

4. What movie have you seen the most in your life?

I have seen too many movies in my life, but one that I’ve seen the most would be “Impostor” (2001) with Gary Sinise and Vincent D’Onofrio

5. What artists would you love to work with?

Eric Kripke, Joss Whedon, J.H. Whyman, Nick Santora

6. How many stories have you written?

Too many.

7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

Best-Selling Author and Screenwriter

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

All I need when I write is my music. Before I finally gave in to iTunes, I rotated my cds, which ranged from Thirty Seconds to Mars, Hollywood Undead, and Linkin Park to The Pat McGuire Band, Arid, and VAST, and many, many more.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

I love television shows such as “Defiance” on Syfy, “Graceland” on USA, “Supernatural” on CW, and “Resurrection” on ABC.

I love movies such as “Oblivion,” “Disconnect,” “Welcome to the Punch,” “Blitz,” and “The Big Kahuna.”

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Festival?

In the past, I’ve received critical feedback on my short stories and screenplays that have assisted me in mastering my craft.

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Never stop writing. I’ve allowed others to talk me out of writing over the years, and I’m sorry I listened to them. It took a long time to get here, so don’t make my mistake. And keep writing.
