Get to know Poet Denise Alicea:

1) What is the theme of your poem?

When I wrote the poem, I was fascinated by angels. Being spiritual angels were always a comfort, so I wanted to share my thoughts on what I thought angels were.

2) How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your poetry reading?

I hope that people feel comforted by the reading just as I was comforted when I wrote it.

3) How long have you been writing poetry?

I have been writing poetry since I was 15 years old.

4) Do you have a favorite poet?

I have many favorite poets, including Emily Dickinson, Maya Angelou, and Robert Frost.

5) What influenced you to submit to WILDsound and have your poetry performed by a professional actor?

I thought it would be a great idea and time to hear it spoken aloud. I am grateful for the opportunity to have someone record my poem.

6) Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?

Yes, I have a Masters in Creative writing so I have written scripts. I’m also an award winning author of young adult and romance.

7) What is your passion in life?

I have many passions in my life from volunteering and helping writers, to learning new technology.
