Brighter Than The Moon
by Gloria Oyewusi

A bed of roses
She imagined life to be
With loads of pleasant surprises
Making her nothing but happy

Like the skies so blue,
So her joy felt true

One day, she opened the door of her apartment
Just to receive a hug from disappointments

Endless tears of sorrow made her pale
As life, she thought, was all fairytale

Gulping down a drink made from peach
She hurried down to the beach

Just for change and some solace
As she did, a wave of comfort greeted her
And a breeze of hope, life and love kissed her face
Making her more than the moon, brighter
