Get to know poet LindaAnn Lo Schiavo:

1) What is the theme of your poem?

The theme of this poem is the duality of human nature. The child, who had previously seen her father in a positive light, has just now experienced the man’s “dark side” — — as if he had a sinister twin.

2) How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your
poetry reading?

When folks read or watch this poetry reading, I would like people to connect with their own dual nature and ask themselves if they are letting their GOOD influences help steer their life — or are they giving into the destructive inclinations that will ruin their chances to be productive, honest, generous, and big-hearted.

3) How long have you been writing poetry?

I have been writing poetry since childhood.
My first poem [“The Tiger”] was published when I was 9 years old. I also wrote a stage play at age 9.

4) Do you have a favorite poet?

My Masters degree is in Medieval poetry, so naturally I love Chaucer and Jean Froissart.

5) What influenced you to submit to WILDsound and have your poetry
performed by a professional actor?

Since I am a dramatist and have worked with many voice actors and actresses on my plays and radio dramas, I know that the trained voice of a professional actress is made for lyrical poetry. I found out about WILDsound and wanted to try it.

6) Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?

YES, I do write other works. I have written poetry, short stories, stage plays, radio dramas, books, articles, newspaper columns, essays, blog posts. I am completing a book right now and also a screenplay for a full-length film.

7) What is your passion in life?

My passion in life is to continue writing — and connect with a wider audience.
