Get to know writer Nancy Arant Williams:

1. What is your novel about?

It’s the story of a teenager by the name of Connor Webb who’s doing homework late one night when he hears repeated scratching and whispering sounds that seem to originate from the empty attic of his family’s Victorian home.

Unable to concentrate on his work he cautiously makes his way up the dim narrow stairway but cannot discover its source. Thus begins a serioue search for answers that leads him into the stunning world of the supernatural and discoveries that most have outright rejected.

2. Why should this novel be read by people?

These days it’s easy to see the increased interest in all things paranormal, but most people are unaware that dabbling in the occult is not the harmless fun that it appears to be. What if It’s All Been a Lie? uses the fictional story of a curious teen to examine the issues and asks tough questions like, “Are demons real?” “Is hell a real place, and if so, who goes there?” The hard truth is that none of us gets out of here alive, and those who are wise will want to know the truth, to be prepared for eternity, which never ends.

3. How long have you been writing stories?

I began writing seriously in 1999, and I find that I’m addicted to words that draw pictures for the imagination to play with.

4. What movie have you seen the most in your life?

I love mysteries, and have a collection of them that I watch again and again.

5. Do you think this novel could be adapted into a movie?

I do. It will lend itself to great graphics and may possibly be one of those classics that people can’t forget.

6. How many stories have you written?

I have thirty romantic suspense novels that have been released into circulation over the past twelve years.

7. What motivated you to write this novel?

It came to me in the night, as many great books tend to do, and I felt compelled to sit down and write it.

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

I spend many hours a day at my pc, researching, writing, editing and mentoring other writers.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Not surprisingly, I’m an avid reader. I also paint and am into interior design.

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Festival?
What was your feeling on the initial feedback your received?

I entered because I feel very strongly that the information in this book needs to be available, so people can make informed decisions about their future. The WILDsound gang was incredibly helpful, made excellent suggestions, and were very gentle in their delivery. I would encourage other writers to go for it if they’re so inclined.

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Many people write, but few go the extra mile to study and hone their craft, rewriting and editing their manuscript until it shines. And even fewer finish the book they started that’s gathering dust in the bottom drawer of their desk. My advice: finish it so you can say you did it. There’s nothing better than learning to write a great beginning, a solid middle, and a satisfying ending. It’s very therapeutic.
