May 8th Writing Festival Details

This week’s writing festival is a showcase of some of the best spec screenplays in the world today. We will be performing the winning Thriller feature screenplay, 3 short scripts, plus the winning May 1st scene screenplays. 

Here are the details:

Feature Screenplay: THE BOO, by Scott McEntire

Genre: Thriller, Suspense, Horror, Drama

Synopsis: Ronnie is a small-town sheriff in the South who still talks to his dead wife on a daily basis. His estranged sister-in-law, Brooke, is dealing with the sudden loss of her husband while still trying to conquer the mental demons of her past. Healing an old family rift becomes all the more difficult when those demons turn out to not merely be figments of her imagination.

1st Scene Screenplay: PUPPETS, by James Griffiths

Genre: Sci FI, Thriller, Noir

Synopsis: A rebellious New Yorker suspects his warehouse retail employer is controlling the minds of it’s staff and causing them to commit suicide.

1st Scene Screenplay: RORSCHACH, by Federico Franchi and Filippo Pierangelini

Genre: TV series pilot, sitcom

Synopsis: Lawrence Maietti, 22 years old, is in serious troubles and now has to quickly find some money. Unable to find work, he has an idea: trying to get the government subsidy by reason of insanity.

Short Screenplay: SCENARIO, by Amy Jones

Genre: Sci-Fi, Action

Synopsis: Fighting against time and terrorists on an earth struggling to survive after a devastating energy crisis, young scientific genius James Kale must figure out how to launch the rocket destined to save mankind before it’s too late.

Short Screenplay: FIFTY FIVE SECONDS, by Kwasi Mensah

Genre: Mystery, Drama, Film Noir

Synopsis: A grizzled veteran hitman tries to impart wisdom to his younger colleague but then they’re forced to question their loyalty to each other.

Short Screenplay: CUTTING REMARKS, by Erin Richardson

Genre: Drama, Comedy

Synopsis: Upper-class housewife Nancy visits her hairdresser Amelia to change her look for her new beau, but she doesn’t know him quite as well as Amelia does.
