Whole Life
by Saoda Reza

Following the flashbacks
they keep me
alive

remembering the very first time
when you held my hand
when you locked me in your arms
the way I fell in love with your smile
the moment I heard you laugh, I knew
I could travel a million miles to hear your voice
to see the sparkling eyes
to admire your presence
to look at you and tell you that you are my pride
you are my strength and you are me weakness
you are my life and you are my whole world

We had the beginning of something so beautiful
even though nothing remained the same
I am not feeling hollow
I hold you in my heart, as I go on
somethings don’t change with time,
you won’t change for my eyes
my love won’t change
my prayers won’t change
I don’t miss you, for you only miss those who aren’t with you
you are with me, your spoken words are with me
they will remain untouched
locked within where you have engraved them in my soul
and as long as I live, your presence will remain

your life may have moved onto the next best thing
but for me,
life is short
and worth so much
it’s worth living and loving
and I-
I love you,
and that’s how I am going to live
my whole life .
