The price has been paid
by Julie Clark

One morning close to dawn I lay in my cell.
Alone and in fear my heart gave a yell
Is no one my friend is no one there.
Tomorrow I die and nobody cares

Then out of the darkness there came a light
A jailer with a lantern bringing me sight.
”Arise young man he said to me
The price has been paid and now you are free”

I got to my feet but just couldn’t move
Just stood there alone shaking my head
I don’t understand , this cannot be true
No one can give me my life anew

He said not a word just flung wide the door
You are free to go I cannot say more
I followed the jailer but still was not sure
If this was a trick wondered what was in store
