Interview with director Mary Gerretsen (ORANGE YOU GONNA DANCE WITH ME?)

Mary Gerretsen’s short film “ORANGE YOU GONNA DANCE WITH ME?” played at the first ever LA FEEDBACK Film Festival in 2016.

Matthew Toffolo: What motivated you to make this film?

Mary Gerretsen: I wanted to make this film because I love comedies and I wanted to showcase old people in a bizarre romantic scenario. So often older people are seen as a grandparent in films, I wanted to change that.

MT: From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

MG: It took me a month to make this product.

MT: How would you describe your short film in two words!?

MT: What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

MG: The biggest obstacle I faced in making this film was the heat. One of my actors had prostate cancer and had just taken some…
