There are a few authors that I am just in awe of. I look up to these people as incredible idols because they not only suffer through the hardships of writing, they also understand the mixture of pain and pleasure of discovering the story in your mind.
Diana Gabaldon, this woman is just an incredible amazing author. I’m on book 5 of the Outlander series and I’m amazed that by Ch 23 not a whole lot has happened, and yet I’m completely riveted. It’s the way she explains details, focuses on words and explanations that paint the story as if you are there. Most editors and publishers seem to want action, no? They say, “move it along, keep the story moving, if it’s not moving the plot remove it!” I agree and disagree with this idea. Sometimes, I just want to delve into detail.
