“I was particularly pissed off about some of the articles written about Shallow Hal (2001) because I felt they were missing the point of the whole movie. We’re saying it doesn’t matter. I’m attracted to my wife, but eventually my wife isn’t going to look like she looks now. But I’m still gonna love her and it’s not because of how she looks. Also zero letters – lots of articles in the paper about this, but not once did I get a letter from a heavy person saying ‘I saw your movie and I think it sucked because you picked on heavy people’. None. In my heart I knew that we weren’t doing what they claimed we were doing in the press'”.
