SJ Main-Muñoz’s path to directing began when she was the first female intern at DreamWorks’ Feature Development division. She graduated with honors in directing from UCLA and Columbia University. At UCLA, she received the James Bridges Award for Excellence in Acting. She’s worked in production for nearly 20 years in roles including Director of Development and Post Supervisor. Her work is supported by WeForShe DirectHer, NALIP, AWD’s Industry Support program, IFP’s Narrative Film Week, FIND’s Project:Involve and Women In Film. Her films La Cerca and Luck of the Draw screened worldwide and garnered premier awards. Her recent short Reconnected is currently on the festival circuit. SJ’s newest short film Requiescat won her the Clairmont Camera Filmmaker Grant and launches on the circuit this year.
