A phone call threatens the happy family life of established writer Nikki, who lives with her wife and child, when her former lover, Sam(antha), ends up in a coma after a terrible accident. Nikki learns she has been named power of attorney and must travel across the country to make a difficult decision on Sam’s behalf. Nikki’s current journey entwines with memories of her previous homecoming and her first encounter with Sam over a decade earlier.
