Writer Biography – Sara Gharagozlou

Sara Gharagozlou was born in San Luis Obispo, California on December 28, 1989. She is of Iranian descent from both her mother and father’s side. She speaks fluent Farsi, but claims not to have had a traditional Iranian upbringing. Her stories are influenced by her real life experiences.

Writer Statement

My name is Sara Gharagozlou. I have always been the black sheep of my family and I’ve learned to embrace it. “Bad Persian Daughter” is based on my real life experiences growing up in Los Angeles as a first generation Iranian/American woman.
