Matthew Toffolo: What gave you the idea to write this very short story?
A.R. Braun: When I was in grade school, my best friend and I used to do brain freezes, saying, “What was here before God created the universe? Nothing. But there’s got to be something!” Seriously, kids are smart. Lately, it’s been screwing with my mind every time I think about what was before the universe. I worked my magic on it, added some insidiousness, and this is the end result.
2) How many stories/screenplays have you written?
Short stories? Going on 100.
Screenplays? Three. The latest is a high-concept horror screenplay.
3) What movie have you watched the most times in your life?
The Devil’s Advocate. Just something about it. True lies.
