Matthew Toffolo: What gave you the idea to write this very short story?

John Ervin: I wanted to bring attention to a screenplay I wrote, also entitled “The Look of Hate”, inspired by two friends from the 1990’s who pursued self-destructive life choice involving guns, porn and right-wing politics.

Rough count over thirty years: 25 completed screenplays.

3) What movie have you watched the most times in your life?

Apocalypse Now!

4) What’s your favorite thing about twitter? What’s your least favorite thing about twitter?

Favorite thing: Twitter is a convenient means for promoting my film projects and events. Least favorite thing: Twitter is a portal for Russian hackers, real “fake news” and alt-right demagoguery, not least The Alt-Right Demagogue-in-Chief.
