Set in a failing New York restaurant, “Separate Checks” is about the misadventures of three best friends, struggling to make it in the city of broken dreams and trash day Tuesdays.

Writer Biography – Maia Henkin

Maia Henkin is an award-winning Off-Broadway playwright whose work has been produced at The Lynn Redgrave Theatre, The Player’s Theatre, The Hudson Guild Theatre, The Gene Frankel Theatre, The Kraine, and The PIT among many others. She was a resident artist of the Drama Desk Award-Winning Flea Theatre, under the direction of Sigourney Weaver and Jim Simpson. Scott Kaplan, the Broadway literary manager of Manhattan Theatre Club wrote, “[Maia Henkin] examines dark, difficult subject matter with nuance and compassion.” Maia is an ALAP Diversity Fellow and coordinator with the Los Angeles Female Playwrights Initiative.
