Watch Poetry Reading of IN SEARCH OF LOVE:
Poem read by Dan Cristofori.
Interview with Poet Ann Wilmer Lasky:
1) What is the theme of your poem?
The theme of this poem is dark medieval horror. It exposes how unrequited love can lead to uncontrollable anger in an already unbalanced individual. It portrays the ultimate in madness and abuse.
2) How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your poetry reading?
I would expect people to be perhaps fascinated, certainly horrified as they read or watch the poetry reading. I would expect them to understand this as the consequence of madness.
3) How long have you been writing poetry?
I have been writing poetry longer than most listeners and readers have been alive. I started in seventh grade, which would have been in 1956 or ’57.
4) Do you have a favorite poet?
As I write a lot of darkness and horror, Edgar Allan Poe is my absolute favorite poet with “The Raven” being my favorite poem.
5) What influenced you to submit to WILDsound and have your poetry performed by a professional actor?
I do a few readings myself, but I thought I would love to hear this poem professionally done. It is one of my favorites.
6) Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?
My writing endeavors are multi-faceted. I also write short stories, novels (science fiction, fantasy & horror), and scripts – even wrote a song about 55 years ago – just one. 🙂
7) What is your passion in life?
Words are my passion in life. I own dictionaries dating back to the 1800’s. I even read them sometimes.
