ENCOUNTER WITH A GIRL
by Robin Rapoport

whose girl’s that
in the somewhere of the park’s center
somewhere
swans scratch her feet

bulrushes twist
so vertical you can just catch
the sun bouncing off her knees
made blue in may

it takes sitting
under one tree to learn a story but
how can she an oversize bow
at her back

legs not quite fitting not quite
short or long belong to a
twin that flies with fish i mean
fish flies i mean fly fishes

i’m going to be nice,
walk right over see if she sparks what she’s about
hey ghost girl if you’re a me don’t say so
because you’re a fucking freak

i don’t want
