Genre: Society
Country Without The O
by Andrew Heaton
A cat in a bin
The assailant attacked and remarked upon
Whilst…
A cancer patient dies
Her pain: an embodiment of
the latest hospital statistic
And no-one cares
But still…
A cat in a bin
A celebrity affair
Spread wide and thin on popular papers
Meanwhile…
The dying sons
of a million families
Dying before the fickle and the few
Still, no-one cares
And yet…
A celebrity affair
A man we like
His sex life on display, for all
However…
The dying thread
of humanity
Willingly throws asunder its right to live
and its right to choose
But we choose…
A man we like
And so we care
We care in our own way
We care in the paper’s way
And we live to please
The empty screen
That tears away our life we lead
That feeds and feeds
And feeds
Our dreams
Pick our brains
poor pickled minds
Choose the life made for you
Ditch your thoughts and
caress
Caress those underlying urges to
Sing a happy praise
for those that bring you your
chat shows and your
reality space in
cosmic ignorance
and seek out everything
That makes you forget.
