Be Free To?
by Rosemary Freskos

Dearest Husband
You hold my body so close,
engulfing it with your might.

Thus making me yours,or so you think.
Yes the bonds are very tight
they chafe my soul.
But cannot hold it, nor my heart.

Those two are free to soar unfettered,
to find whatever company they wish to seek.
You might keep me if you let me go.

But jealous love cannot give,
it only takes.
The body you cling to is an eempty shell,
drained of any love.
I must mend that hurt with the
sharp edge of freedom.

Be Free to…talk to strangers.
Be Free to…not talk to anyone.
Be Free to…laugh aloud and say not why.
Be Free to…bury my head and cry.
