Watch the Video Pitch for THE CITY OF THE GUARDIANS:
Get to know the writer JeryLyn Harrington:
1. What is the theme of your novel?
The theme to my novel is very simple: A man’s need to protect the things that come under his authority, even though, at times, those things and people need to go there own ways.
2. Why do people need to know about your story?
Most people need the escape from everyday life and, I do believe, that a good escape novel without the pretension of everyday life is what they need. My novel, an action/adventure/thriller fills this need.
3. How long have you been writing stories?
This is a short bio and explains me:
I am a self-published author, four books available through CreateSpace and Amazon, and I have written short stories and journals from high school through college and all of my adult life. It was only during the early 1990s that I decided to write a full-length novel with ideas from some of these early college and high-school journals. My first novel went through several re-writes and edits before it was ready for publication. I found the challenge to write this first novel to very enjoyable and I decided to write several other novel under different genres to find my niche. I wrote another science fiction thriller, but at that early time, I wrote, mostly, romance and completed several novel, two self-published, as well as, an un-published children’s book. I find that writing a thriller with romance elements is best for me.
4. What movie have you seen the most in your life?
A Big Question Mark. I love movies and get inspiration from them, but…
5. What artists would you love to work with?
I write all the screenplays for my novels and I would love to work with any of the current horror/action/adventure/thriller directors. I write my novels with the screenplays in mind.
6. How many stories have you written?
I have four self-published books, City of the Guardians included, with the first book in a new three-part series written and well into the second book.
7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?
Ideally, I would love to find a manager to take over all my works so that I could devote my time to writing my books and screenplays.
8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?
I write everyday, either into a journal or work on mu books, but I write everyday for at least 4 hours.
9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
My novel’s screenplays. Love it!
10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Festival?
Your poetry contest!
11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?
Don’t give up – if you do you’ll regret it! Stay in there and write and let no one tell you it isn’t a job that pays a salary. If you make it – the rewards surpass money.
