The Train Trip Home
by Ben Marchant
He just sat there.
Peak hour on the train.
He had the blended sexy looks of Kevin Spacey and Heath Ledger.
The hero traits of Crowe.
Had charisma of Colin Firth.
Wasn’t shy!
Was able to laugh at himself and those who just wanted to talk with him.
The other non-famous traveller’s who were taking his space with ignorance didn’t mess with his subtle ego.
I would have thought that with his shiny set of wheels at least something would have made them think.
But there he was.
Being around others who were towering around this man trapped not only in his wheelchair – but also around the rest of us where height was no more his advantage.
If only I was proud enough to have shaken his hand.
Or have spoken with him a little more.
It was time for me to get off at the next station.
I’ll remember the trip home from work tonight.
