Poetry performed by actor Jason Martorino
Get to know writer Chris Biscuiti:
1) What is the theme of your poem?
Family and inner strength that can come from adversity. Our baby boy Brayden is a real warrior and our hero for overcoming his seizure disorder (known as Infantile Spasms) and we see how he fights every single day to continue his development despite his delays.
2) How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your poetry reading?
I would like people to feel both the heartbreak of parents when they first find out their child has special needs, which then transforms into the embracing of everything that comes our way, knowing it will be okay because we are there for our son and will do everything we can to help him.
3) How long have you been writing poetry?
I’ve been writing poetry since I was 15 years old and was an English and Creative Writing Major in college at Binghamton University.
4) Do you have a favorite poet?
My favorites are Edgar Allen Poe and John Keats.
5) What influenced you to submit to WILDsound and have your poetry performed by a professional actor?
I really wanted to have something special done with this poem for our family to cherish and my son to listen to one day.
6) Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?
I have published two books of poetry to date that are available on Amazon: Half A Lifetime More Or Less, which encompasses a collection of poems I wrote from ages 20 to 27. My second book, Mobile Poems, contains 3 years worth of poetry that I wrote while commuting to and from New York City by train. When you ride the Long Island Rail Road as much as I did, you find yourself needing to do something productive to pass the time.
7) What is your passion in life?
My passion in life is my family, first and foremost. I also love to write, listen to music, and am a diehard New York Mets fan. Yes, the Mets, because I’m a tortured artist, of course 🙂
