You Couldn’t Hurt Me More
by Juliette Westbrook-Finch

Dead inside and numb I feel,
what you’ve done was not the deal:
I trusted you, gave all of me;
my heart; my soul; my destiny.

I gave to you, my husband and protector,
I never dreamed you’d reject me and select her,
betraying me after all these years;
feeling a failure, crumbling in tears;
shocked by your disloyalty;
I can’t believe you could do this to me:
you couldn’t hurt me more If you had an oozie nine millimetre –
nothing’s worse than your husband being a liar and a cheater.
