Session 147: Drama Therapy—Monologue

arttherapymonday's avatarArt Therapy Monday

This session may come naturally, or it may not. I’m challenging you today to perform a monologue—for yourself. Now if you’re like me, even that can seem a bit daunting. Let’s do ourselves a favor and ditch the negative self talk, and just have fun with it! Locate your favorite movie, one with some good, quotable speeches in it, watch it with subtitles, and play along. Now, assuming you’re alone, be as crazy and loud as you want to be. Let it all out! (But this would be fun with like minded friends or your kids). Don’t just stand there while you do this. Have you heard of Suzuki method acting? Check it out on YouTube. It’s active, rhythmic, a little weird, but fascinating! Try using some of the techniques while you act out the scenes. You’ll probably get sweaty and thirsty today. Embrace it!
