Canada’s fentanyl crisis has struck British Columbia the hardest, with nearly 1,000 overdose deaths counted in 2016 for that province alone. Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside — considered ground-zero of the epidemic — has been left to fend for itself, while they await an expansion of alternative treatment and drug policy reform.
This documentary follows the Overdose Prevention Society and Spikes on Bikes — two grassroots community initiatives made up by users themselves, who respond, intervene and reverse overdoses in the neighbourhood on a day-today basis.
