Interview with Filmmaker Roman De Giuli (LAND OF MINE)

Matthew Toffolo's Summary

LAND OF MINE was the winner of BEST CINEMATOGRAPHER at the June 2018 Experimental FEEDBACK Film Festival in Toronto.

Matthew Toffolo: What motivated you to make this film?

Roman De Giuli: I’m very interested in landscape and aerial photography. The wide perspective down to earth offers such a different view on our planet. To me, planet earth appears like a multidimensional piece of art. In 2017 I was experimenting with a new method which works on soggy paper only. And I discovered more and more geographic or topographic features in my work. This was there start to Land of Mine.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this short?

It took me around 1 and a half years if you master the fluid paint method and shoot the film.

3. How would you describe your short film in two words!?
