Rita is a graduate of the USC school of Cinema- Television. She is compelled to tell the stories that need to be told, being drawn towards realistic dramas concerning women.
Sexual assault is difficult to discuss. It’s difficult to watch. It’e even more difficult to live through. It is our hope in “First Step” to tell the story of a girl who is so many girls throughout the world. In this spectacular time of social progress and discussion it’s important to come back to the stories of survivors because every story is vastly different. This is not a revenge film. The rapist walks away at the end. Our concern is with a young woman finding her voice when her whole world has been shattered. We hope to open up this dialogue with your audience.
