Roger Donaldson
Born: November 15, 1945 in Ballarat, Australia
His first film, Sleeping Dogs (1977), was the first made in New Zealand in 15 years and also the first to be shown in American theaters.
Emigrated to New Zealand from Australia in 1965.
His son, Chris Donaldson, represented New Zealand in the 100 metre sprints at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic games.
