Suffering PTSD after returning from Gallipoli, Annie escapes to the Outback and takes up a nursing position with the Inland Mission- a precursor to the Flying Doctors. Annie busies herself in her new life, adapting to a chaotic job and challenging people. When she begins to fall for Christopher, a stockman who reminds her of a lover she lost in the war, the heartbreak and anguish comes flooding back. Will she forget her past or learn from it?
