My name is Leire Acha, I am 21 years old and I just graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Art and Animation from the DigiPen Institute of Technology in Bilbao, Spain. Ad Lib is our Senior year team project, which we have collectively written, directed, animated and edited.

Director Statement

Ad Lib is a 3D Animation Short Film that makes a powerful statement in defense of the LGBT community and the freedom of sexual and emotional choice, always through the media of dancing as a metaphor for sex and romance. The film takes place in a huge dance club – which represents the concept of sexuality itself. In there, the dancers must follow very strict rules regarding their dance partners. Our story follows E, a girl who does not agree with this imposed decision, and will have to fight for her right to dance and love, freely…
