Interview with Filmmaker Alex Meridy (ANYTHING FOR MY MOTHER)

Matthew Toffolo's Summary

ANYTHING FOR MY MOTHER was the winner of BEST PERFORMANCES at the LGBT Feedback Film Festival.

1. What motivated you to make this film?

The story and the emotional connection I have with the piece is what motivates me to make this film. I was raised by a single mother who is also sick when I was growing up so instantly I felt that connection and that struggle living with an underlying illness.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this short?

Three months pre-production and one month post-production.

3. How would you describe your short film in two words!?

Emotionally layered

4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

Time management for sure. We started around 11am and originally planned to work just after the sunset but then eventually end up filming till 3:30am.
