Director Statement

The reason that inspired us to make the documentary Trazos de Agua, vida y obra del aguaretista Ricardo Anwandter is because we live in the city of Valdivia, which has historically been the cradle of outstanding and varied exponents of culture and the arts, who unfortunately have not been given the importance and relevance they had.

Among these most relevant artists or creators, is the figure of Ricardo Anwandter Von Salis-Soglio, (1919-1993), the most important watercolorist in the history of Valdivia. Considered the best national landscaper in the art of watercolor. Ricardo Anwandter, built a Valdivia from his perspective as an artist, making our city known through his work to the rest of the world. His works have been exhibited in the United States, Europe and South America.

There is agreement that Ricardo Anwandter immortalized Valdivia, its region and the country through his works, always characterized by a refinement and fine perception of color and chromatic purity. There is no doubt that he captures a careful and refined technique, achieving true mastery in the watercolor technique. His works are always harmonious, elegant, some with beautiful transparencies, but above all, full of poetry.

And we think it is important that a master like the watercolorist Ricardo Anwandter be immortalized in this documentary so that his work is known and is a legacy to new generations.
