Podcast: EP. 1757: Writer/Producer Penny B. Jackson & Director/Actor Melissa Skirboll ($13)

When a long-time New Yorker introduces her niece to her beloved city, a doughnut and a waterfront view ignite memories of her greatest, but luckiest, loss.

Director Statement

Some moments in time never really fade away. When Penny Jackson presented me with the monologue that we turned into the short film $13, the poignancy and truth of the character’s experience with 9/11 hit home.
While the monologue itself is beautiful, the director in me wanted to find a way to make this story a film – to reach out through the screen and make you feel what all of us who were in New York that day felt.
And thus began another film collaboration between Penny Jackson and myself.
The film is short, but I believe the impact is huge. I hope you too are moved to remember.
