Matthew Toffolo interviewed Jenna Mayer, a recent animation graduate from Sheridan College, about her thesis film “Raw It T Girls,” a 2-minute hand-drawn animation featuring dinosaur characters in a sorority setting. Jenna explained the film’s concept came from a real-life interaction with a friend who wanted to dance with women at a club, and she chose dinosaurs as characters because people connect more with animals than humans in animated films. She discussed her animation process, which took 7 months to complete with approximately 300 hours of work, and her future plans to transition into live-action filmmaking to create longer projects. WILDsound praised the film’s creative approach and suggested it would be well-received at film festivals, while Jenna shared her interest in dark comedy and her desire to move beyond animation into other storytelling mediums.
