When asked about his writing background, Michael revealed this was his first screenplay despite having written three books over 15-20 years, stating that reading Julia Cameron’s “The Artist’s Way” unblocked his creative writing in screenplay format. The conversation also touched on Michael’s personal experiences with bisexuality, his meeting with James Baldwin in 1973 while stationed in Germany, and his historical non-fiction books about American presidents, particularly focusing on the political climate from Eisenhower through Nixon.
