Matthew Toffolo interviewed Andrea Ouellette, writer and producer of the animation short film “Woven Love.” She discussed her creative process, career background, and future aspirations in 2D animation. Andrea explained how she collaborated with a Seattle-based studio to create the 4-minute film, which took her about two months to complete, including revisions, and described the story as focusing on an unlikely relationship between a young sheep and bison characters that ultimately forms a family bond. She shared her educational background from College for Creative Studies in Detroit, where she studied 2D animation and storyboarding, and discussed her current freelance work with the same studio on additional animation projects. The conversation covered Andrea’s perspective on the current state of 2D animation versus 3D animation, particularly in relation to AI animation threats, and her goals to build her portfolio while working with both large and small studios.
