Matthew Toffolo chatted with Michael Donson’ abou his short film “W. Mulberry Street,” a time-loop thriller shot entirely in a car where the main character gets stuck in a repetitive cycle while driving to a high school reunion. Michael explained how he developed the concept in 2019-2020, went through several years of pre-production and location scouting before shooting in 2025, and worked with professional theater actors from Austin to bring the story to life. The film explores themes of change and self-reflection, with Michael describing it as a character study about a woman who struggles with whether she’s evolved since high school. The discussion also covered Michael’s upcoming projects, including another short film in post-production about a boy mourning his grandmother, and his future plans to develop a feature film script that he’s already written and has interest in from potential cast and crew members.
