Happy Birthday: Jamie Lynn Spears

Jamie Lynn Spears.jpgJamie Lynn Spears

Born: April 4, 1991 in McComb, Mississippi, USA

I’ll probably do a lot of acting first, then go to singing, but I am going to definitely sing someday. So when I do start singing, buy my album! – upon starting her career in show business

I’m more honest in my lyrics than I am in anything else. It’s where I feel the most safe to express myself. I write about growing up, my family, Maddie and getting pregnant. If I’ve lived it, why wouldn’t I talk about it? I guess that’s been the coolest thing-realizing that it’s OK to just be myself and really tell my story.

[On why Britney chose to sing pop music and Jamie chose country] Every person in this world has a different outlet for them where they release their creative energies or whatever energies they need to release. It’s just the way she chose to release hers and this is how I chose to release mine.

Happy Birthday: Christine Lahti

Christine Lahti.jpgChristine Lahti

Born: April 4, 1950 in Birmingham, Michigan, USA

Married to:
Thomas Schlamme (4 September 1983 – present) (3 children)

(1998) I’m more proud of quitting smoking than of anything else I’ve done in my life, including winning an Oscar. I was so hooked on cigarettes that I allowed them to control my life. I had started smoking when I was 14 and after 20 years was up to 2 1/2 packs a day. I stay disciplined about eating right and working out now because once you get rid of something that self-destructive, you don’t want unhealthy behavior anywhere in your life.

[on her role in “Just Between Friends”) Sandy was the closest to me of any character I’ve played.

[on her college years in Ann Arbor] I was a hippie, but not a good one. I was secretly ambitious. I’d secretly watched the Academy Awards, which was definitely not cool.

I tend to be a little grand in terms of storytelling, I’ve never been limited by anybody’s sense of reality.

[on scripting The Crazy Ones for Robin Williams] He says my words perfectly – then he uses his. I feel like I’ve been handed the keys to a car that I’m ill-equipped to drive.

Happy Birthday: David Cross

long period when I indulged in drugs, but I don’t think I was ever addicted to any of them. I do think crack is addictive. I smoked it once, and it was a huge wake-up call … When it came time to get some more, I knew very clearly that if I stayed there-and I wanted to-my life would change right then and there for the worse. I never touched crack again.

(2012, on working with Jim Belushi) We were working on a movie together [1995’s Destiny Turns on the Radio], and his behavior was reprehensible, shitty and awful. I don’t want to rehash what he did, but from that point on he was fair game. My girlfriend and I were visiting friends on Martha’s Vineyard, and I saw in the local paper that Belushi was performing. We went to the show, and it was like $45 to see his shitty cover band, which is basically just a vanity project. I decided to hop on stage and dance with him. I got kicked off, and then I hopped on again. I thought it was hilarious that I got kicked out of the club. Jim Belushi is such a cock.

Happy Birthday: David Blaine

David Blaine.jpgDavid Blaine

Born: April 4, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York, USA

I’d go to Coney Island to hang out, and I saw a magician doing a rope trick on the boardwalk. I was fascinated. I guess that’s how it started.

I thought instead of burying myself under dirt, I’d bury myself under water so everybody could see that you’re there.

I think that when Evel Knievel crashed over the fountain at Caesar’s, it kind of gave you a credibility and then anticipation for everything he did.
I remember finding a Houdini book at the library and seeing an image of him chained on the side of a building. He looked so intense and scary, and I couldn’t get that image out of my head. That started building up my love of magic.

Well, I also love magic, which is, you know, different than showmanship. Magic’s an art where you use slight of hand or illusion to create wonder.
