DISCOVERY
by BASANTA KUMAR PANIGRAHI

Darkness everywhere–
In the heart of the dense forest
Far away, so far away,
who has lit a fire
that look like the flickering evening star?

The aristocrats who walk on flowers
Stumbled on fallen leaves
And told the government straight,
it was not possible to move further in the jungle.

Those of the middle class who limped like
the differently-abled,
Stumbled on fallen leaves and were overjoyed
as though they had tripped on flowers
And thanked the government.

How do the lower middle class look ?
The aristocrats who had courageously embarked on the journey
to discover this,
shouted at the government and came back,
And then the middle class put their foot forward.

One among them said–
After a few days,
We would all become lower middle class
Thank the Lord; praise the government profusely.

All countries are present in the market
Except the very rich,
all others are engaged in the bargain
The trade is on.
Where is Iraq which sold oil?
There is a long queue before the shop
the rich, the middle class
All are desperate–
Some have dollar in hand, some money
And some dinar.

It was heard
The oil outlet was closed,
Terror had entered the house of Iraq.

Now the middle class house lay in dark.

You better run the country with aristocrats,
The middle class are discovering the jungle.
Wait for some days,
They would form a government of the lower middle class.
