Look at me.
by Alexis Davis
No, I want to see “the you”,
The one “you” that you kept away.
Hidden in barracks of the mind prison
You’ve created. Let me see “you”.
The masquerade of every personality is
Draining the one person you’re hiding.
The one that I would love, cherish.
You, the one you now, is pushing away
Those who wish to keep you close.
I see “you” though.
I know you see me seeing “you”.
Please do not fear, for I mean no harm.
For you see because of “the you” that you
Buried is the reason you can see “me”.
“The me”. The one I too kept away from life.
I trust in your gift and power that I
Risked it all, one last time.
The finale of who I am fearing to be
Exposed; I released myself only for “you”.
Now, unlock those gates and release “the you” that I am standing here in fear for.
Take my hand and trust in me to trust
Yourself once again.
