The calm before the storm – Poetry Reading by Sasha Holden

Watch the Poetry Reading of THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM:

Poetry performed by Steve Rizzo:

Get to know poet Sasha Holden:

1) What is the theme of your poem?

The theme is centered around the beauty, serenity and peacefulness of a river at those moments prior to the outbreak of a storm. Those moments before the environment takes a paradigm shift transforming itself into a sea of lightning wind and rain. The contrast between where we as people were moments before, to moments after this shift is outstanding.

2) How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your poetry reading?

I would like for people to realize that the environment and world in which we live is overpowering, and that we as people are a part of it, can experience it, yet have little influence on the ever changing and beautiful being known as nature.

3) How long have you been writing poetry?

For 20 years

4) Do you have a favorite poet?

I enjoy Ray Carvers poetry in the collection of poems he wrote entitled All of Us.

5) What influenced you to submit to WILDsound and have your poetry performed by a professional actor?

I enjoyed reading the poems and scripts on Wildsound as I found there to be both immense of talent on display together with many profound and creative works.

6) Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?

I have written scripts for TV, newspaper articles, web copy and other feature pieces including short stories prior to my existing occupation as a full time contemporary romance and erotic fiction author.

7) What is your passion in life?

I love that moment when writing wherein the words flow and leave your mind to land on the paper in an almost unconscious process that leaves you feeling both satisfied and exhilarated.
