Sick Perfection
by Jocelyn Jones

Perfection is
The disease of a nation
That has suddenly
Made us all very sick

The disease of a nation
Strips natural beauty from within
And it makes us all sick
As we flip through magazines.

What strips beauty from within?
It is the perfection
That sits in magazines
And whispers little lies.

It is the perfection
That locks away my happiness
And whispers little lies
Saying, “Look what I’ve found.”

The key to unlock my happiness
Has suddenly
Forgotten that I’ve found
What perfection actually is.
