VIDEO PITCH for Plan B Positive, Short Screenplay by Elizabeth Buck

Watch the Video Pitch for PLAN B POSITIVE:

Get to know writer Elizabeth Buck:

1. What is your story about?

My short film is about a bisexual vampire (Mina Strigoi) who is encouraged to go to a speed dating event after receiving encouragement from her ex. Mina reluctly attends and, by the end of the night, seems to have found her true love (Antoinette). However, she quickly realizes that it was all a revenge ploy, set up by Lucy.

2. Why should people know about yourself and your story?

I think people should know my story because it is a refreshing take on the now cliché vampire drama in that it doesn’t take itself to seriously and it isn’t just for teens. (I mean no insult, my Tumblr friends.) Also, if/when people take interest in me as a writer, then I will feel motivated to possibly extend the story of Mina and Lucy.

3. How long have you been writing stories?

I’ve been writing since I was 12. I started out with poetry and then I moved on to attempting to write short stories, until I lost interest in emulating Mark Twain. It want until I started University last year that I realized my passion for screenwriting and acting.

4. What movie have you seen the most in your life?

Pulp Fiction

5. Who would you like to collaborate with on a creative project?

David Fincher or Quentin Tarantino. Also Sawyer Hartman.

6. How many stories/screenplays have you written?

I’d say about 30.

7. What motivated you to write this story?

My short film teacher at Academy of Art University, Matthew Jacobs.

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

I try to write daily. I usually just write an idea down, to start, then I do some stream of consciousness in order to free myself up. Next, I start outlining and developing characters.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about acting; film; comic books; feminism…and the list could go on.

10. What influenced you to have your story made into a video pitch?

The fact that I want to be able to show my friends and family my work without them having to read a long email or a stack of papers.

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Don’t quit! Any doubts you may have are a natural part of growing as a creative person, so let them happen while keeping in mind that they will pass. Oh, and call/talk to a close family member when you’re feeling down-it really helps.
