Unapologetic, Poetry by Anthony Azekwoh

Genre: Relationship, Marriage

Unapologetic
by Anthony Azekwoh

_(I wrote this from the perspective of a woman trapped in an unhappy marriage)_

It’s been a while since I cried my first tears
And I still vividly remember our first years
Together
When I looked into your eyes, I saw forever
What did you see when you looked at mine?
What do you see when you look at me?
Nowadays you don’t even look happy
“It’s 12 am, where are you going to?
Do you even care about the pain I’m going through?
You leave and come back whenever you want
and I’m tired of it
Is it me? What did do wrong?
Please just talk to me, I’m worried
If I did anything, please I’m sorry”
I always thought I was to blame, I’d drink my _lemonade_
wondering what I had
Done today and the day after
While you’d talk on your phone and roar with laughter
Who the hell are you talking to?
And it’s not a lie when I say that I cried as I died deep inside
When I found out that you lied to me
How could you? You were the earth and sky to me
You were my world, but I guess I wasn’t yours
and It’s been a while since I cried my last tears
And now I find that I’m happy that we’ve spent our last years
Together
When I looked into your eyes, I saw forever
But now I know what you saw when you looked at mine
You saw someone you could just be lying to
You saw little more than free sex and food
But now I’m done being sorry and I’m done with you

_GOODBYE_
