[re Saturday Night Live (1975) audition] They flew me all the way back to New York to meet with Lorne Michaels. I realized later that he was doing a final personality vet. He said, ‘Do you think you can live in New York?’ And I thought, ‘Does anyone blow it at this stage? Does anybody get this far in the process, and then is like, ‘It’s definitely New York? Well, if you guys can’t be flexible on that, I’m not sure if I can be flexible on that.’

Happy Birthday: John Legend
[on Frank Ocean] You talk to some people in this business and you get the sense that they’re very focused on radio: what will be a hit or won’t be a hit. You never get that from Frank. The focus is on creating something that’s beautiful, that’s great art…I think Frank’s career will be defined by his fearlessness and his artistic freedom.
I am a feminist. Women are discriminated against in so many ways and they make up half the population.
