Matthew Toffolo chatting with Vijay about his short film, “The Open Door Killer,” and his experience at USC Film School. Vijay explained that the film was a proof of concept for a feature-length crime thriller and was inspired by a real-life serial killer in Sacramento. He discussed the film’s lighting, which was inspired by a greenish tint seen outside the location, and the performance of the lead actor, Michael Shackett. Vijay also shared his background from Houston, Texas, and his goal of becoming a professional director. The two discussed the importance of sound design in filmmaking and the role of AI in the industry. WILDsound praised the film’s execution and expressed interest in Vijay’s future work.
