Watch the 140 Character Short Story: THE RETREAT
Story read by actress Maya Woloszyn
Get to know writer Kymm O’Malley:
1) What is your very short story about?
– My story is about having to make difficult decisions but maintaining courage and grace in the face of fear.
2) What motivated you to write this story and submit it to the festival?
– As a writer who is just starting to share my work, this seemed like a fun and interesting challenge to tackle. It was a lot of fun!
3) What movie have you seen the most in your life?
– For the past several years, I have been completely in love with Café de Flore, directed and written by Jean Marc Vallee and starring Vanessa Paradis, Kevin Parent, Hélène Florent and Evelyne Brochu.
It is such a beautifully told story of true love and soul mates.
4) How many scripts and stories have you written?
– I have written dozens of stories over many years and am currently working on my first script.
5) What artists would you love to work with?
– I would love to create something that would allow Paul Thomas Anderson or Xavier Dolan to direct. I would also love to be able to create a strong female leading role for Evelyne Brochu that would showcase her enormous talent.
6) What is your passion in life?
– My passion in life is simple: to make a difference. Even just a small small difference made by impacting the world around me everyday through both my words and actions.
7) Any tips for other writers who want to write a 140 character short story?
– I think the most important thing is to choose your subject. After you have a subject, just have fun!
